For any serious Path of Exile 2 player aiming to conquer the Endgame, setting up an effective loot filter is essential. Not only does it minimize on-screen clutter to make mapping more enjoyable, but it also streamlines the gaming experience by highlighting only the items that truly matter, freeing players from the tedious task of manually sifting through irrelevant loot.

FilterBlade, renowned as the top filter manager for Path of Exile 1, now extends its support to Path of Exile 2 with a new update. Here’s how to get started with it.

How to Set Up FilterBlade Loot Filters in Path of Exile 2

  • Navigate to the FilterBlade website.
  • Choose PoE 2 from the options provided.
  • The default loot filter, NeverSink, will be pre-selected.
  • Adjust the Strictness level of the filter using the slider (more details below).
  • Click on the 'Export to PoE' tab located at the top right.
  • Enter a name for your filter; you can use any name you prefer.
  • Select either 'Sync' or 'Download' at the bottom right:
    • Save & Sync will automatically upload the FilterBlade loot filter to your PoE 2 account, ensuring any updates from the author are directly applied to your game.
    • Save & Download lets you save the file to your PC, allowing you to explore different Strictness levels without multiple re-syncs, which is particularly useful at the start of a new campaign or for comparison purposes.
  • Launch PoE 2 and go to Options -> Game.
    • If you chose Sync, select the newly added FilterBlade from the Item Filter dropdown.
    • If you chose Download, use the folder icon next to the dropdown to navigate to your saved filters.

With these steps, your FilterBlade loot filter will be operational in Path of Exile 2.

Which Loot Filter Strictness Should You Choose?

Selecting the appropriate strictness level for the NeverSink FilterBlade preset is crucial, as it determines what items you'll see in-game. Although you can always tweak settings later, starting with the right level can prevent future issues.

StrictnessEffectBest For
SoftHighlights valuable materials and items, hiding nothing.Act 1-2
RegularHides only items without crafting potential or sale value.Act 3
Semi-StrictHides items with low potential or limited value.Act 4-6
StrictHides most items without high turnover.Early Mapping phase (Waystone 1-6)
Very StrictHides low-value rares and crafting bases, including Waystone 1-6.Mid to late mapping (Waystone 7+)
Uber StrictHides almost all non-tiered rares and crafting bases, focusing on complete currencies like Regal/Alchemy/Exalted/Chaos Orbs, no shards. Hides Waystones 1-13.Late mapping (Waystone 14+)
Uber Plus StrictHides nearly everything except valuable currencies and high-return rares and uniques. Hides Waystones 1-14.Ultra endgame mapping (Waystone 15-18)

For players embarking on a second or third campaign run, starting with the Semi-Strict level is recommended. The Soft and Regular levels are more suited for fresh league starts where every item contributes to character progression, akin to a Solo Self-Found (SSF) run.

To view items hidden by the loot filter, press the highlight key (ALT on PC). FilterBlade enhances this feature by reducing the size of item names when ALT is pressed, effectively minimizing their visibility on the map, making item pickup more efficient in PoE 2.

How to Customize FilterBlade Loot Filter in PoE 2

The standout feature of FilterBlade is its user-friendly customization of preset loot filters, eliminating the need to navigate complex code.

How to Use the Customize Tab in FilterBlade

To deeply customize your loot filter, go to the 'Customize' tab beside Overview. This tab organizes every potential drop in PoE 2 into detailed sections and subsections for easy modification.

For instance, if you want to alter the appearance of a Divine Orb, simply enter "Divine Orb" into the search bar on the right. The S Tier General Currency tab will open, displaying all customization options for the Divine Orb, with visual previews available.

To preview the in-game sound of an item drop, click the in-game showcase icon.

How to Change Colors and Sounds in FilterBlade

For individual or small group item customizations, use the 'Customize' tab. For broader, filter-wide adjustments, navigate to the 'Styles' tab. Here, you can modify Text, Border, and Background colors, as well as the audio cues for valuable drops.

Color changes are straightforward, with real-time in-game previews. For specific item adjustments, return to the 'Customize' tab.

For sound effects, use the dropdown menu. You can upload your own .mp3 files by selecting 'Custom' or choose from community-added sounds under 'Game & Community Sounds'. With hundreds of options available, don't hesitate to experiment; you can always revert by selecting 'Reset'.

Newcomers to loot filter customization can experiment with public Modules, which are community-created presets that modify the loot filter, often with unique visual or auditory effects.
