DC Studios boss James Gunn has exciting news for fans, confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. In a recent tweet, Gunn shared his enthusiasm, describing the Season 2 premiere as "one of my favorite things ever." The brief new footage he released teases John Cena's character in action, notably smirking at the camera with a fire blazing in the background. In the clip, Peacemaker is referred to as "a superhero now."

This highly anticipated release follows the July 11 premiere of Superman, marking the significant launch of Gunn's rebooted DCU. Peacemaker Season 2 will be the third installment in the DCU, following last year's Creature Commandos TV series and this summer's Superman.
Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DC franchise into a new era, distancing it from the critically criticized DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, certain elements from the DCEU will persist into the new DCU. Peacemaker serves as a prime example, having debuted in the DCEU with its first season and now continuing in the revamped DCU with its second.
Gunn has previously mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. He has confirmed that all of Team Peacemaker will return, with the same cast reprising their roles. This includes **John Cena** as Peacemaker, alongside **Frank Grillo** as Rick Flag Sr., **Freddie Stroma** as Adrian Chase, and **Danielle Brooks** as Leota Adebayo.Additionally, Gunn has revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly influencing Peacemaker's storyline.
