People Can Fly, the renowned developer behind Bulletstorm and co-developer of the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a significant deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment. The agreement centers on the development of a new game, codenamed Project Delta, which will be crafted as a work-for-hire project. While the specifics of Project Delta remain under wraps, the collaboration marks another exciting chapter for the studio.
Currently, People Can Fly is juggling a diverse portfolio of projects, each with its own unique codename. Among these, Project Gemini, developed in partnership with Square Enix, experienced a setback last year with the layoff of 30 developers. Additionally, the studio is working on Project Echo with Krafton, Project Red, which appears to be another collaboration with Sony, and the recently announced VR Project Bison, which will be the studio's last venture into virtual reality.
In recent developments, People Can Fly made the difficult decision to suspend work on Project Victoria last December and scale down Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, the studio also announced the cancellation of Project Dagger, an action-adventure title that was in development with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these adjustments, People Can Fly remains busy with a total of eight known projects in various stages of development. This includes the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition. While a release date for Gears of War: E-Day has yet to be announced, Project Gemini, in collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for release in 2026.
