Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. The decision, as explained in a recent PC Gamer interview, stems from significant development cost and time constraints.
FeMC Inclusion Deemed Infeasible
While initially considered, adding the FeMC, even as post-launch DLC alongside Episode Aigis - The Answer, proved too challenging. Wada clarified that the development time and associated costs were simply unmanageable within their current framework. He stated that releasing Persona 3 Reload with the FeMC within the planned timeframe was impossible.
Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the 2006 JRPG, launched in February. The omission of Kotone/Minako disappointed many fans. Despite their hopes for her inclusion, either at launch or as DLC, Wada’s comments firmly suggest it's not feasible. He previously emphasized to Famitsu that integrating the FeMC would be far more complex and expensive than developing Episode Aigis, presenting insurmountable hurdles.
The popularity of the FeMC in Persona 3 Portable fueled fan expectations for her appearance in Reload. However, Wada's repeated statements leave little room for optimism regarding her future inclusion.
