Persona 4 Actors Won't Return for Remake

By NathanJan 22,2026

While Atlus hasn't officially announced a Persona 4 remake, three original English voice actors have confirmed they won't be returning for the project - if it exists.

Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced Yosuke Hanamura, sparked discussions this week by stating on BlueSky that he wouldn't reprise his role for "the Persona 4 remake" that hasn't been formally revealed. His since-deleted post revealed: "I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don't want me to come back."

The situation escalated when Erin Fitzgerald (Chie Satonaka) and Amanda Winn Lee (Yukiko Amagi) followed suit, disclosing they hadn't received offers to return.

The pattern of announcements has fueled speculation among fans about an imminent remake. Supporting evidence includes domain registrations and persistent rumors over the past year.

Potential reasons for the recasting range from the SAG-AFTRA strike to Atlus' established practice - the studio similarly replaced English voice actors for Persona 3: Reload. However, some fans propose a deliberately orchestrated marketing campaign, noting the announcements mirror the character recruitment order from Persona 4: Yosuke first, then Chie, followed by Yukiko.

More elaborate theories suggest the original actors might voice Shadow versions of their characters. If Troy Baker or Matt Mercer (both previous Kanji Tatsumi voice actors) make similar announcements next, some believe it would confirm this unconventional approach. While intriguing given Persona 4's themes of identity, most consider this scenario improbable, favoring simpler explanations like standard recasting.

With mounting evidence and fan anticipation, an official clarification may come soon - possibly during upcoming Summer Game Fest or Xbox presentations.
