This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a formidable Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's power makes it a valuable asset, but its acquisition requires specific steps due to version exclusivity.

Acquiring Deino (Scarlet Exclusive):

Deino, Hydreigon's pre-evolution, is found exclusively in Pokémon Scarlet. Key locations include Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage, requiring Koraidon's high jump ability for access to the former. Three-star Tera Raids also offer Deino encounters, potentially with its Hidden Ability. Zweilous, Deino's evolution, can be found in 4-star Tera Raids and some of the same wild locations as Deino. Hydreigon itself appears in 5/6-star Tera Raids.

Obtaining Deino in Violet:

Since Deino is exclusive to Scarlet, players of Violet must trade or transfer. Nintendo Switch Online is needed for Union Circle trading, or Pokémon HOME can facilitate transfers from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, or Pokémon Scarlet. The process involves moving Deino to your HOME Basic Box, then transferring it to your Violet PC Box via the HOME app.

Evolution:

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Auto-battling or using Exp. Candies (particularly L and XL) accelerates this process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a base stat total of 600, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature enhances its Speed further.

Type Effectiveness:

• Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
• Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
• Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
• Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Terastallizing mitigates Hydreigon's 4x Fairy weakness. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attack strategies. While it learns both physical and special Dark and Dragon type moves, Flash Cannon (via TM) is crucial to counter its Fairy weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.
