The Pokémon Company addresses ongoing shortages of its highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet—Prismatic Evolutions expansion, assuring fans that reprints are underway. This marks the first official acknowledgement of the widespread supply issues affecting the international release, originally scheduled for January 17th, 2025.
In a statement to IGN, the company expressed understanding for the disappointment caused by the scarcity. They confirmed that additional Prismatic Evolutions products are being printed at maximum capacity and will soon be distributed to licensed retailers. While the statement cites "high demand" as the reason for the shortages, it avoids directly addressing speculation regarding scalping activities.
Reprint Distribution Imminent
The Pokémon Company assures fans that the currently-in-production reprints will reach distributors swiftly, though a precise release date remains unconfirmed.
Further Prismatic Evolutions Releases Planned
Beyond the reprints, the company reiterates its plans to release additional Prismatic Evolutions products throughout 2025, including:
- A Mini Tin and Surprise Box (February 7th)
- A Booster Bundle (March 7th)
- An Accessory Pouch Special Collection (April 25th)
- A Super-Premium Collection (May 16th)
- A Premium Figure Collection (September 26th)
In-game availability will also commence on January 16th, 2025, via the Pokémon TCG Live mobile game's Battle Pass. This will give players an early opportunity to experience the new cards.
The Pokémon Company's proactive response and commitment to resolving the supply issues offer some reassurance to eager collectors and players. The upcoming staggered releases of additional products should help alleviate the initial shortages over time.
