The Pokémon Fossil Museum is officially heading to North America in May 2026, The Pokémon Company has confirmed.
For those unfamiliar, the Pokémon Fossil Museum is, quite literally, what its name suggests. Following its successful debut in Japan, this unique exhibition pairs fabricated Pokémon "fossils" with real-world ancient lifeforms. It will make its first international appearance at Chicago's Field Museum starting May 22, 2026.
During the exhibition, visitors will encounter vibrant Pokémon models displayed alongside extinct creatures from the Field Museum's own collection. This includes scientific casts of iconic dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, presented next to Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. "How many differences—and similarities—will you discover, Trainers?" the museum invites.
