In Pokémon TCG Pocket, Sleep is a significant hindrance, effectively neutralizing affected Pokémon. This guide details Sleep's effects and how to counter it.
Understanding Sleep in Pokémon TCG Pocket
A Pokémon afflicted with Sleep cannot attack, use abilities, or retreat. It becomes a vulnerable target while asleep.
Curing Sleep
There are primarily two methods to awaken a sleeping Pokémon:
-
Coin Toss: Each turn, a coin toss determines if the Pokémon wakes up. This offers a chance of immediate recovery but also the possibility of prolonged sleep.
-
Evolution: Evolving a sleeping Pokémon instantly cures the Sleep condition.
A less common method involves the Koga Trainer card, which returns a sleeping Weezing or Muk to your hand. This is Pokémon-specific.

Strategic Considerations
Hypno stands out due to its ability to inflict Sleep from the bench, making it a potent support card for Psychic decks, synergizing well with powerful attackers like Mewtwo ex. While other Sleep-inducing cards exist, Hypno's effectiveness without hindering your overall strategy makes it currently the most competitive option.
