Prime Video's Butterfly, adapted from BOOM! Studios' graphic novel by Arash Amel, is a character-driven spy-thriller delving into family ties amid the perilous realm of global espionage.

"The story follows David Jung (Kim), a mysterious and volatile former US intelligence operative in South Korea, whose life unravels as past choices haunt him, drawing the attention of Rebecca (Hardesty), a lethal young agent tasked with his elimination, and Caddis, the shadowy spy network she serves," the official synopsis details.

Butterfly fulfills my long-held vision of uniting American and Korean storytellers to craft a series that connects two cultures I cherish,” Kim shared. “I’m thrilled with our talented team both on and off screen and deeply thankful to Ken Woodruff, BOOM! Studios, 3AD, Amazon, and all who brought this to life.”

Ken Woodruff, known for The Mentalist and Gotham, serves as showrunner and co-creator with novelist Steph Cha. The cast also features Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim, with guest appearances by Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa.

Executive producers include Woodruff, Cha, and Kim, alongside John Cheng for 3AD, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie for BOOM! Studios, and Arash Amel for The Amel Company.
