The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, offers a sneak peek into the game's mechanics. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer highlights the game's rhythm roguelike action, blending rhythm game elements with side-scrolling action. A standout moment in the trailer features a battle against a giant boss crab, demonstrating the intensity and excitement of the gameplay.

Ratatan supports online co-op for up to 4 players, allowing fans to team up and navigate through battles with up to 100 characters. The game is crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and features the musical talents of Kemmei Adachi, who composed for the original Patapon. Since its Kickstarter campaign launched in 2023, Ratatan has successfully achieved its console launch stretch goal, ensuring a release across multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared updates and milestones achieved by the game, noting that it has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. Although the game won't be part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is concentrating on refining the demo for a better experience at the Steam Next festival in June.

During the closed beta, players can expect to access up to Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added during the test period, which will extend over a month. Sakajiri mentioned that details regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time will be shared via Discord and X once confirmed.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While specific release dates have not been announced, the excitement surrounding this title continues to build as more information becomes available.
