Dell recently revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs, initially offering them with a single graphics card option—the RTX 5080. However, the latest update now allows you to configure your PC with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, the most powerful graphics card available today. Excitingly, one of the two preconfigured systems is currently on sale.

Alienware Area-51 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K RTX 5090 Gaming PC (32GB/2TB)

Originally priced at $5,499.99, this Alienware Area-51 configuration is now available for $4,999.99 after a $500 instant discount. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a spacious 2TB SSD for storage. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. Although it doesn't surpass the i9-14900K in every aspect, it remains Intel's top all-around CPU. The system is equipped with a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and a 1,500W Platinum power supply to handle the demands of high-end gaming.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell showcased the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. While the chassis retains a similar look to the 2024 R16 model, it features significant updates in aesthetics, cooling, and components. The I/O panel has been relocated to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now extends across the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Instead, air intakes are strategically placed at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that reduces dust accumulation inside the system. The internal components have also been upgraded, including a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has established itself as the pinnacle of consumer GPUs. Nvidia has focused on enhancing software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay performance, yet the RTX 5090 still offers a 25%-30% increase in raw raster performance compared to the RTX 4090. It also boasts 32GB of faster GDDR7 VRAM, a significant upgrade from the 4090's 24GB GDDR6. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is scarce at retail prices and is often found on eBay for between $3,500 and $4,000.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, albeit with a less dramatic leap than previous generations. In terms of traditional non-AI gaming, the generational improvement is modest. However, DLSS 4 significantly enhances performance in compatible games, although it's worth noting that 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
