In May of 2015, Nintendo made headlines by announcing a partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts to develop theme parks inspired by their beloved games and characters. This marked a significant step as Nintendo ventured deeper into the global entertainment landscape. Fast forward a decade, and that vision has blossomed into Super Nintendo World, a dynamic theme park featuring thrilling rides, immersive experiences, themed stores, and specialty dining locations in Japan, Los Angeles, Florida, and soon, Singapore.

As anticipation builds for Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida—and the introduction of the first-ever Donkey Kong Country-themed area in the U.S.—I had the privilege of speaking with Shigeru Miyamoto, the visionary behind iconic franchises like Super Mario and Donkey Kong. We discussed the journey of creating these parks, collaborating with the next generation of Nintendo developers, and his excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
