IDW Publishing's acclaimed Sonic the Hedgehog comic series has reached a significant achievement with its 75th issue. Sonic #75 featured an explosive final confrontation between Team Sonic and the villainous Clutch, setting the stage for an intense new arc titled "Scattered Pieces."
New Story Arc Revealed
The "Scattered Pieces" narrative unfolds across Sonic the Hedgehog issues #76-80. With #76 now available in stores, IGN is premiering exclusive artwork from the climactic chapter during IGN Fan Fest. Below you can view the three variant covers for issue #79 along with previously revealed "Scattered Pieces" cover art.
The five-part storyline is written by longtime series architect Ian Flynn. Issue #79 showcases interior artwork and the main cover by Adam Bryce Thomas, with additional variant covers contributed by Tyler McGrath and Nathalie Fourdraine.
IDW's official description for Sonic the Hedgehog #79 teases:
The explosive final battle between expert marksman Whisper and deadly assassin Mimic reaches its conclusion! Will Tangle and Silver be able to support Whisper in this decisive showdown, or will history repeat itself with another fallen comrade?
Writer Shares Insights
"Having built this Sonic universe for seven years, we've developed numerous characters and story threads," Flynn revealed to IGN. "While Evan Stanley's previous arc brought many elements to a climax, my 'Scattered Pieces' storyline addresses what comes next while setting the stage for Evan's next major arc."
The series continues to gain momentum as Sonic the Hedgehog #76 is currently available, with issue #77 scheduled for release on March 19. Comics enthusiasts can preorder upcoming issues through their local comic shops (location finder available here).
