By HannahMay 04,2025

The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean the iconic foursome of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return with Season 27, and it appears our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the state of things in their uniquely irreverent way.

The beloved animated series recently dropped a new trailer that initially tricked viewers into expecting a dramatic new drama. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set a serious tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear. Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster prominently displayed in the background.

South Park Season 27 Teaser ImageSouth Park Season 27 is slated to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical events expected in the new season. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, an appearance by P. Diddy, and yet another conflict with Canada. Longtime fans, especially those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, might have seen the latter coming.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will debut on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having originally debuted on Comedy Central in 1997 to widespread acclaim.
