Spider-Man 2 PC Release Hacked in One Hour

Spider-Man 2 hit the digital shelves of Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures in place, which made it impossible to hack the game before its release. This was due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options for the PC version, coupled with its hefty 140 gigabyte size.

Yet, within an hour of its release, hackers managed to download and crack the game's distribution. As anticipated, the game lacked sophisticated defense mechanisms.

Sony kept a low profile in promoting the project, and the system requirements for Spider-Man 2 were only disclosed a day before its PC launch. Currently, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases on Steam, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and even Days Gone.

Initial player feedback has been less than stellar. With 55% positive reviews out of 1,280 opinions at the time of this post, gamers have pointed out issues with optimization, along with frequent crashes and bugs.

Spider-Man Remastered continues to lead the series in terms of online presence on PC, having once achieved over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether Spider-Man 2 can come close to the first part's record remains to be seen over the upcoming Friday and weekend. However, if the current sales momentum holds, the game stands a good chance of achieving satisfactory results.
