Zynga, publisher of Star Wars Hunters, has announced the game's complete shutdown merely nine months after launch, with plans for a Steam PC version now abandoned.
The free-to-play team battle arena game, developed by NaturalMotion, debuted on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in June 2024. IGN's Star Wars: Hunters review awarded it 7/10, stating: "While Star Wars: Hunters delivers enjoyable PvP action, its appeal may prove temporary - like attending a Death Star gala that loses its novelty after a few hours."
This assessment proved prophetic, as Zynga confirmed the final content update will release April 15, with full service continuing until October 1, 2025 before permanent shutdown.

"We recognize this decision may disappoint players, but assure you it wasn't made lightly," Zynga stated. "Your passionate support for the game and its community has been invaluable, and we'll provide transparent updates throughout this transition."
Key timeline details: Season 5 will extend three weeks from March 25, featuring returning seasonal events and shop bundles. The Ranked Season extension provides additional time to achieve Kyber 1 rank.
The April 15 final update introduces new Support Hunter Tuya alongside additional free content, with all in-game purchases disabled. Competitive play continues via final Ranked Mode leaderboards with full map and mode rotations.
No mention appears of the planned Steam PC version, originally slated for Early Access this year. The Steam store page now carries an "unavailable" notice.
While Zynga (owned by Take-Two) predominately focuses on mobile titles like FarmVille and CSR Racing, Star Wars: Hunters represented the publisher's inaugural console venture - with the PC version intended as another milestone.
"The positive reception on mobile and Switch motivated our PC expansion," Yaron Leyvan, Zynga's EVP of Games, commented in November. "This represents both a response to player requests and our first PC launch."
Star Wars gaming fans can still anticipate upcoming projects including Respawn Entertainment's next Jedi installment and Bit Reactor's tactical title planned for Star Wars Celebration 2025.
