Barone's Public Promise

In a recent Twitter (now X) exchange, Barone addressed fans regarding the ongoing development of Stardew Valley's ports and upcoming PC update. While acknowledging the extended development time, he assured players of his daily work on the mobile port and promised announcements upon reaching significant milestones, such as setting a release date.

A fan's comment regarding the community's satisfaction with free content prompted Barone's emphatic response: "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This powerful statement solidifies his dedication to providing ongoing support without monetizing future expansions.

Stardew Valley, initially launched in 2016, has consistently received substantial updates since its release. The recent 1.6.9 update exemplifies this commitment, introducing features like new festivals, multiple pet options, expanded home renovations, fresh outfits, enhanced late-game content, and various quality-of-life improvements.

While Barone is also developing a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, his pledge to Stardew Valley's community reflects a deep respect and appreciation for his players. He even challenged fans to hold him accountable, stating, "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath." This bold declaration underscores his commitment to providing a continually evolving and enriching experience for Stardew Valley players, completely free of charge.
