Speculation that Starfield will soon be announced for PlayStation 5 has intensified after fans discovered a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website.
The logo appeared on a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield. Although the item was later removed, fans believe this signals Bethesda's sci-fi RPG, currently exclusive to PC and Xbox, will soon launch on PS5.

This naturally raises questions about whether Bethesda is planning a major content update, perhaps even a new expansion, to accompany Starfield's potential PS5 launch. Starfield has seen little news lately, especially following the disappointing reception of its Shattered Space expansion. Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, typically holds a summer showcase, which could be the perfect opportunity to share more about Starfield's future.
Bethesda has promised "exciting things" for Starfield this year, addressing growing player frustration over the lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, the studio reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed at least one more story expansion is in development after Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda's Todd Howard said the team aims to release a substantial story expansion every year, hopefully for a very long time.

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first original IP in decades and its first major single-player game since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's Starfield review scored it a 7/10, praising its expansive roleplaying quests and solid combat despite some initial obstacles.
In January, Microsoft's Phil Spencer did not dismiss the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Rumors about Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle being considered for PS5 have circulated since March 2024. Indiana Jones was eventually confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, a few months after its PC and Xbox debut. Starfield, however, remains unconfirmed for PlayStation, though Spencer's comments strongly hinted it is under consideration.
A growing number of Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation and has announced Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 for PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 is also confirmed for an upcoming PS5 release. There are even reports that Microsoft might finally bring Halo to PlayStation after years of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
"We are running a business," Spencer stated in August. "Microsoft has high expectations for our performance and the value we deliver. We receive incredible support from the company and must deliver results accordingly.
"My focus is on making our games as successful as possible. Our platform continues to expand across console, PC, and cloud. This is simply the strategy that works for us."
It's a busy period for Bethesda Game Studios, which employs 450 people and currently manages five development teams: Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile, and external partnerships.
