System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster Now on Nintendo Switch

Nightdive Studios has exciting news for fans of the iconic 1999 sci-fi horror action RPG, System Shock 2. The studio has announced that the previously titled System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is now renamed to System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. This modernized version of the classic game is not only set to launch on Windows PC via Steam and GOG, but it's also expanding its reach to include PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and for the first time, Nintendo Switch.

Set in the year 2114, the game thrusts players into the role of a character waking from cryo sleep on the FTL ship Von Braun, grappling with amnesia amidst a ship overrun by hybrid mutants and deadly robots. The rogue AI, SHODAN, has seized control with the intent to destroy humanity, and it's up to the player to navigate the eerie corridors of the derelict ship, delve into its story-rich atmosphere, and uncover the grim fate of the Von Braun and its crew.

The release date for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will be unveiled during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase livestream on March 20, 2025, along with a new trailer, according to Nightdive Studios. This announcement promises to bring more details and perhaps a glimpse into the enhancements and remastered elements of this beloved title.
