Tony Hawk Confirms

In a recent episode of Mythical Kitchen on YouTube, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk announced that he and Activision are working on something special to mark the 25th anniversary of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. "I've been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly," he revealed. While specifics remain under wraps, Hawk assured fans that the plans "will be something the fans will truly appreciate."

The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater hit the shelves on September 29, 1999, published by Activision, and quickly became a commercial success with numerous sequels following. In 2020, fans were treated to a remastered collection of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (THPS1+2). Hawk also mentioned that there were plans to remaster Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, but the project was canceled after the studio Vicarious Vision was disbanded. "I wish I could say we have something in the works," Hawk shared during a Twitch stream in 2022, "but you know Vicarious Visions kind of got disbanded and Activision’s going through all their stuff. I don’t know what’s next."

As the 25th anniversary approaches, the official Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater social media accounts have been active, sharing new artwork and announcing a giveaway sweepstakes for the Collector's Edition of THPS1+2 remastered, with the caption: "Celebrating 25 years of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater all month long!"

Speculation about a new Tony Hawk game has been rife, especially with rumors of an announcement during a Sony State of Play expected this month. While nothing has been confirmed, and Hawk has not specified whether it will be a new game or a revival of the canceled remastered project, the anticipation among fans continues to build.
