Akatsuki Games has recently announced the end of service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine. Launched just a few months ago in February on Android, iOS, and PC via Steam, the news of its shutdown comes as a shock to many fans. Let's dive into the details and explore what's leading to its untimely demise.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine will officially cease operations on November 27th, 2025. Alongside this announcement, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not see the light of day. This is particularly disappointing, as the game had recently started to tease what was coming next in the narrative. As of May 15th, all planned updates, new features, bug fixes, and content releases have been canceled. This means any previously announced adjustments or new features mentioned in in-game notices are no longer happening.
Additionally, two characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were set to join the game's roster, will not be added. In terms of player compensation, refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on items such as Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio. These refunds will be processed after the Revenio contract concludes. Moreover, players can no longer purchase Enigma Entities or Daily Passes through the app or web store, though existing Enigma Entities can still be used until the game's official shutdown.
Why Did It Fail So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its unique style and compelling worldbuilding. Despite its quality, the game struggled from the outset. One major issue was the slow release schedule, with only one story chapter and one event released over the course of three months. Additionally, the game's monetization model did not encourage spending. Players could build a robust team with just one pull and did not require duplicate characters, which, while beneficial for players, did not generate the revenue needed to sustain the game.
It seems that opting for a gacha model was a risky move for Tribe Nine, and unfortunately, it did not yield the desired results. Despite this, the game remains playable until November 27th. If you haven't yet experienced Tribe Nine, you can still check it out on the Google Play Store.
