Live-Action ‘Driver’ Series Shelved
Ubisoft has officially confirmed to Game File that the much-anticipated live-action adaptation of their iconic Driver series will not be moving forward. Initially announced in 2021, the series was set to be exclusively streamed on Binge.com. Danielle Kreinik, head of Ubisoft Film & Television, expressed their goal to "bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
Unfortunately, the project hit a roadblock when Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary of Ubisoft named after the Driver protagonist, closed its doors in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
However, fans of the Driver franchise need not despair. Ubisoft has reassured its community that they are "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise." While specific details remain under wraps, Ubisoft is eager to share more about these upcoming ventures in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on what's next for Driver!
