The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.
Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter, takes center stage as the Witcher 3 trilogy concludes. The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village's ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a darker situation than initially apparent.
While a release date remains unannounced, considering the development times of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for Witcher 4 seems plausible. Given the early stage of production, a release within the next few years is a reasonable expectation.
Platform specifics are yet to be confirmed, but a next-gen-only release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC is anticipated. Unlike Witcher 3's Switch port, a similar adaptation for Witcher 4 seems unlikely, though a potential Switch 2 version remains a possibility.
The CGI trailer hints at familiar gameplay elements: potions, signs, and combat. A new addition might be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's involvement, albeit a supporting role, suggesting a mentor-like function for the veteran Witcher.
