According to a recent X post by Sarah Bond, the app will allow Android users to purchase and play games directly within the app. This development is directly linked to the recent court ruling in Google's antitrust battle with Epic Games. The ruling mandates Google offer broader options and increased flexibility within the Google Play Store, opening the door for rival third-party app stores. This includes granting access to the entire Google Play app catalog for three years (November 1st, 2024 to November 1st, 2027), unless individual developers opt out.

While an existing Xbox Android app allows game downloads to Xbox consoles and cloud streaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the November update adds direct game purchasing capabilities.
