AFK Journey Tier List
A disclaimer: Many AFK Journey heroes are suitable for most content. While some outperform others in challenging endgame, even average heroes can be effective. This tier list prioritizes versatility and performance across PvE, Dream Realm, and PvP.

S-Tier Characters
Lily May, a recent addition, is a must-have Wilder character, offering significant damage and utility. She excels in PvP (countering Eironn teams), PvE, and Dream Realm, potentially replacing Korin or Marilee.
Thoran remains the best F2P tank, especially before obtaining Phraesto (a luxury unit). Reinier is a top support for both PvE and PvP (Dream Realm and Arena).
Koko and Smokey & Meerky are essential supports for various game modes. Odie is crucial for Dream Realm and all PvE.
For competitive Arena, build Eironn with Damien and Arden for a dominant team.
Tasi (added November 2024) is a versatile Wilder character excelling in most modes, offering strong crowd control. Harak (Hypogean/Celestial) is a powerful Warrior whose strength increases with each enemy kill.
A-Tier Characters
Lyca and Vala effectively utilize Haste, a crucial stat boosting attack frequency and speed. Lyca provides party-wide Haste, while Vala increases her own with each marked enemy kill. Lyca's PvP performance can be inconsistent.
Antandra is a solid tank alternative to Thoran, offering taunts, shields, and crowd control.
Viperian complements a Graveborn core with energy drain and AoE attacks, excelling outside Dream Realm.
Alsa (added May 2024) is a strong DPS mage, fitting into meta PvP compositions (especially with Eironn). She's easier to build than Carolina and serves a similar role.
Phraesto (added June 2024) is a durable tank but lacks damage output. Prioritize Reinier first.
Ludovic (added August 2024) is a strong Graveborn healer, working well with Talene and excelling in PvP.
Cecia, while a capable Marksman, has decreased in value due to Lily May's release and Dream Realm meta shifts.
Sonja (added December 2024) significantly improves the Lightborne faction, offering respectable damage and utility across all game modes.
B-Tier Characters
B-Tier characters are suitable for filling roles but warrant less investment. Replace them with A or S-Tier heroes when possible.
Valen and Brutus are strong early-game DPS choices. Granny Dahnie is a decent tank alternative to Thoran and Antandra.
Arden and Damien are meta PvP units but less effective in other modes. Combined with Eironn, Carolina, and Thoran, they form a powerful PvP team.
Florabelle (added April 2024) is a decent secondary DPS supporting Cecia but not essential.
Soren (added May 2024) performs adequately in PvP but is suboptimal elsewhere.
Korin's effectiveness in Dream Realm has diminished. Odie is now preferred.
C-Tier Characters
C-Tier heroes are useful early-game but quickly become outclassed. Focus on summoning better replacements.
Parisa, while offering strong AoE and some PvP utility, should be replaced as soon as possible.
