Control 2 Enters 'Production Readiness Stage'
Control 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to the acclaimed 2019 game Control, has achieved a crucial development milestone. Remedy announced that the game has reached the "production readiness stage," indicating it is now playable and the team is preparing to scale up production. This stage involves thorough game testing, performance benchmarking, and ensuring the game meets high-quality standards.
Additionally, Remedy and Apple are collaborating to bring Control Ultimate Edition to Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Production
Remedy provided updates on Codename Condor, the multiplayer spin-off within the Control universe. The game is now in full production, with the team actively developing various maps and mission types. Both internal and limited external playtesting are being conducted to validate features and gather feedback. As Remedy's first live-service game, Codename Condor will be released with a "service-based fixed price."
Updates on Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake
The Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, has received positive press and fan feedback. Remedy noted that Alan Wake 2 has successfully recouped most of its development and marketing costs, showcasing its strong performance. A Physical Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 22, with a Collector’s Edition following in December. Pre-orders for both editions are now open on the Alan Wake official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, co-produced with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from the production readiness phase to full production. The development team is now focusing on creating a fully playable version of the game, emphasizing key gameplay features that aim to distinguish it from its predecessors.
Control and Alan Wake 'Key Part' of Remedy's Future
Remedy emphasized the strategic importance of the Control and Alan Wake franchises for their future. Earlier this year, Remedy acquired full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, giving them complete control over its development, publishing, and future direction.
With ownership of both the Control and Alan Wake IP and publishing rights, Remedy is exploring various business models, including self-publishing. The company plans to unveil more details about their strategy later this year and is considering potential partnerships with other publishers to enhance their long-term business prospects.
"We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne that was originally created by Remedy," the company stated.
As the year unfolds, fans can look forward to more announcements about Remedy's plans for the Control and Alan Wake franchises, as well as updates on their other upcoming games.
