Android & iOS Weekly Round-Up: New Games + Sales

By NoahJan 23,2025

Hello gaming enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's roundup features a robust selection of new game releases, forming the core of this Thursday's update. We'll also explore a significant number of new sales. Let's dive into the games!

New Game Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus with a brand-new case. This latest installment stays true to the original games' style. Expect a fresh mystery to solve, presented similarly to the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the case of the latest serial killings? My review is coming soon.

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunpla! While the Switch version naturally lags behind other platforms in performance, it's still a satisfying experience. Check out Mikhail's insightful review for all the details.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its impressive streak of remakes with this 8-bit classic. Unlike their previous 16-bit remakes, Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn offers a more significant departure from its source material. However, fans of classic action-platformers will find much to enjoy. My review will be available early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A sequel to Valfaris, but with a twist! This time, it's a 2.5D side-scrolling shoot 'em up. While the genre shift might surprise some, it's a solid title. Embrace the change, and you'll uncover plenty to appreciate. A review is on its way!

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure what Nour entails. The visuals are stunning, showcasing beautiful food imagery. The gameplay involves interacting with the food, perhaps photography or uncovering secrets? Mikhail might be the best person to investigate this one further.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For monster truck enthusiasts, Monster Jam Showdown offers local and online multiplayer, multiple game modes, and plenty of action. Reception on other platforms has been mixed, but it might appeal to fans seeking a monster truck fix.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

This appears to be a remake of the original WitchSpring, a mobile game often compared to the Atelier series. While it previously filled a niche, its price now approaches that of a full-fledged Atelier game, making it a tougher sell. However, it’s visually the best WitchSpring yet.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. Investigate the disappearance of your crew by exploring a vast, perilous underwater world, engaging in combat along the way. Well-received on other platforms, it's likely to find a dedicated following on Switch.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

Voltaire, a vegan vampire rebelling against his bloodthirsty father, engages in farming and action to thwart his father's plans. While I'm personally a bit fatigued by this genre, those who enjoy farming and action sims might find it appealing.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A classic marble roller game with seventy stages and eighty marbles to collect, featuring secret collectibles and special challenges. The core gameplay focuses on speed and precision, a familiar and enjoyable formula.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A kid-friendly firefighting game with twenty missions. Unlike other more realistic firefighting games, this one aims for a more accessible, younger audience.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A grotesque action game starring a hoverboarding cat who gleefully dispatches foes. While the core gameplay is decent, the Switch version suffers from notable technical issues, impacting the overall experience.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. This pre-Tiger Heli shooter offers a unique charm for fans of classic shooters.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early expansion pack for Xanadu, introducing a new underworld to explore. Gameplay is similar to the original, but more challenging. Notably, it features the debut work of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A blend of horror, survival, and roguelite elements, best experienced with up to ten online players. Solo play caters to a more specific taste due to its repetitive nature.

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you, a sentient tin can, must solve 100 handcrafted puzzles involving worms. The constant introduction of new mechanics prevents the gameplay from becoming stale.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Two NES-style microgames with a ninja twist, offering local multiplayer or CPU competition. The novelty of these games running on NES-level specs is intriguing.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A surprisingly fun puzzle game with two modes: a Tetris-style falling block mode and a wood block puzzle mode. The objective is to create rows or columns where the dice faces add up to ten or multiples of ten.
