Assassin's Creed Shadows' March Release Date Confirmed
Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date.
The publisher cites the need to integrate player feedback as the reason for the delay. This contrasts with the initial three-month delay announced in September 2024, which stemmed from internal development challenges concerning historical accuracy. Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience, facilitated by ongoing player communication. Both delays, however, share the common goal of providing additional time for refinement and polishing.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest postponement, the shorter delay may mitigate potential player dissatisfaction.
The additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's ongoing internal investigation into its development practices, launched in response to disappointing sales figures and record losses in fiscal year 2023. The investigation aims to make Ubisoft games more "player-centric," and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this goal.
