This success propelled the franchise to subsequent installments on Nintendo platforms.

Bayonetta, a powerful Umbra Witch wielding guns, martial arts, and magical hair, quickly became a fan-favorite video game anti-heroine. While Sega published the first title across various platforms, Nintendo secured publishing rights for the sequels, releasing them exclusively on Wii U and Nintendo Switch. The prequel, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, further expanded the lore, and Bayonetta herself made appearances in Super Smash Bros. games.

PlatinumGames is also releasing monthly Bayonetta-themed smartphone wallpapers, with January's featuring Bayonetta and Jeanne in kimonos.

Even after 15 years, the original Bayonetta remains influential, refining stylish action gameplay pioneered by Devil May Cry. Its unique mechanics, such as Witch Time, laid the groundwork for future PlatinumGames hits like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Nier: Automata.
