After months of swirling rumors and leaks, it appears that Bethesda is on the brink of officially unveiling the much-anticipated remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The announcement is set for tomorrow at 8am PT/11am ET, and fans can catch the reveal live on both YouTube and Twitch.
In a recent post on Twitter/X, Bethesda teased the announcement with an image prominently featuring the Roman numeral "IV" and a background that strongly resembles iconic artwork from Oblivion, hinting at what's to come.
The buzz around an Oblivion remake has been building for years, with early whispers turning into solid leaks in recent months. The first hint of this project surfaced in a 2020 Bethesda release schedule that leaked during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023, suggesting an Oblivion remaster was slated for fiscal year 2022. Although the document was outdated and the proposed release window had passed, it sparked speculation. This speculation intensified in January of this year when another leak emerged, indicating that Bethesda, with the help of support studio Virtuos, was working on a comprehensive remake. The leaks reached a crescendo just last week with images from Virtuos' website showcasing the remake in progress, virtually confirming the project's existence.
If the latest leaks hold true, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered will be available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Fans can look forward to a Deluxe Edition that includes the iconic horse armor, in addition to the standard version.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for what promises to be an exciting confirmation and more detailed insights into this long-awaited remaster.
