In late January, a video surfaced online demonstrating a tool that hackers could use to remove players from matches in Black Ops 6. The footage was captured during the game's multiplayer beta, according to Activision's response to the video. The vulnerability was addressed and fixed before the official release of Black Ops 6 in November. Activision emphasized that the team continuously investigates reports of such utilities, and the video does not represent the current state of the game.

Despite Activision's claims, players argue that the company is not being truthful, pointing out that hackers are still using the utility. As evidence, they presented a video showing the program in action during a match on the Nuketown map, which was introduced to Black Ops 6 a week after its launch.

Black Ops 6 emerged as the top-selling game in the United States last year, as reported by Circana analysts. The Call of Duty franchise has maintained its position as the top-ranked game in the U.S. for 16 consecutive years. Meanwhile, EA Sports College Football 25, released on consoles in July, became the most played sports game in the country.

In 2024, U.S. gamers' spending saw a 1.1% decrease year over year, attributed by Circana to reduced demand for hardware. However, spending on add-ons and services increased by 2% and 6%, respectively. Looking ahead, the second season of Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2, featuring a ninja theme and a crossover with the "Terminator" universe, is set to premiere on January 28.
