Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Classic Modes and Map Updates
Following its recent release, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly anticipated game modes and a fan-favorite map this week. Developer Treyarch announced via Twitter (X) that the "Infected" mode will launch tomorrow, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on November 1st.
Infected, a staple of the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against zombie-like opponents controlled by other players. Nuketown, originally introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a beloved multiplayer map set in a 1950s-era nuclear test site. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions, ensuring a steady stream of new experiences for players. Black Ops 6 launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6's first post-launch update addressed several issues reported by players. Improvements include increased XP and weapon XP rates in several key multiplayer modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight). Activision stated that they are actively monitoring XP rates across all modes. The update also resolved various bugs, including:
- Global: Fixed loadout highlighting, Bailey's operator animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting.
- Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave the intended play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card maps. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also improved.
- Multiplayer: Resolved matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, fixed a Private Match forfeit bug, and addressed a continuous sound effect issue with the Dreadnought Scorestreak.
Developers Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on addressing remaining issues, such as the problem of dying upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy. Despite these early post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a strong entry in the Call of Duty franchise, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
