Boss battles in *The First Berserker: Khazan* are filled with unexpected challenges, and the fight against the Blade Phantom is no exception. Here's a detailed guide to help you conquer this formidable foe across its two intense phases.

Phase 1

The Blade Phantom emerges on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level in Stormpass, embodying the ghostly voices that have haunted Khazan. This boss tests your ability to manage stamina and aggression amidst its relentless attacks. The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded by a crimson liquid. Here are the typical attacks you'll face:

  • A six-hit combo featuring four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
  • A three-hit combo consisting of two punches and a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo that starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo of flashing punches, culminating in a grab that requires precise dodging.

In addition to these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer that causes red spikes to emerge upon impact. If it opts for a spear, prepare for a rapid throw followed by a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. The boss may also vanish to dash around the battlefield before launching an attack.

Mastering the timing of these moves is crucial. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can exploit openings to attack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for Brutal Attacks. Continue this strategy until you've reduced its health by about half, triggering the transition to the second phase.

Phase 2

The second phase kicks off with the Blade Phantom unleashing four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Dodge the spear's landing zone and brace for a leaping swipe. Subsequent attacks include three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.

While the Blade Phantom retains most of its earlier moves, it introduces new claw attacks, a spear thrust with follow-ups, and several swift dual-wielding attacks. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when equipped with the greatsword, be wary of the multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.

Capitalize on moments when the Blade Phantom's stamina is low to execute Brutal Attacks, ideally just as the window for such attacks is about to close. This strategy maximizes damage and eases your path to victory. Defeating the Blade Phantom rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
