Disney Lorcana's Ninth Set 'Fabled' Launches September 2025, Featuring Goofy Movie and Iconic, Epic Cards

By HazelMay 13,2025

Disney Lorcana enthusiasts, get ready for a wave of exciting updates! The future of this beloved trading card game is looking brighter than ever with the announcement of the ninth set, Fabled, slated for release on September 5, 2025. This set promises to introduce the first-ever Iconic and Epic cards, along with the much-anticipated inclusion of A Goofy Movie.

Fabled: A New Era for Disney Lorcana

As we eagerly await more details about Fabled, the Disney Lorcana team has already shared some tantalizing teasers. The set's pre-release is scheduled for August 29, with the wide release following on September 5. One of the most significant additions will be cards inspired by A Goofy Movie, though specific details about which characters will make an appearance remain under wraps.

The spotlight will be on Mickey and Minnie, who will grace the first-ever Iconic Cards. These cards will be the rarest in Lorcana, with only two featured in each set. The inaugural Iconic Cards will showcase Mickey and Minnie on a carousel, making them a must-have for collectors.

Joining the Iconic Cards are the new Epic Cards, which sit between Legendary and Enchanted in terms of rarity. These cards will boast unique artwork and foil treatments, offering players another chance to snag exceptional cards, such as a new Elsa (Snow Queen) card.

Fabled also marks a pivotal moment for competitive play with the introduction of card rotation. Cards from the first four sets will be rotated out of Core Constructed play, encouraging fresh strategies and deck designs. However, fans of older cards need not worry; a new format called Infinity Constructed will allow the use of these cards, and Fabled will introduce reprints of popular cards from earlier sets, including Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), which will be fully playable in competitive environments.

Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger, emphasized the importance of this move: “To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter. But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!”

For newcomers, the team has introduced the Collection Starter Set, which includes four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) "Glimmer Foil" Promo Card, a card portfolio featuring Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector's guide.

Reign of Jafar: Continuing the Adventure

The eighth set, Reign of Jafar, will hit the shelves with a pre-release on May 30 and a wide release on June 6. This set continues the saga of the Disney villain, Jafar, who now wields the Hexwell Crown and has corrupted Archazia’s Island. Players will navigate traps and illusions, with glimmers like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber teaming up to reclaim the crown and defeat Jafar.

Alongside the new cards, Reign of Jafar introduces Illumineers' Quest: Palace Heist, a cooperative experience where four players can team up to take down Jafar and his minions. Fans can look forward to cards featuring Bambi (Prince of the Forest), Flower (Shy Skunk), Thumper (Young Bunny), Jafar (High Sultan of Lorcana), Magic Carpet (Phantom Rug), Aladdin (Vigilant Guard), and more.

Teases of Future Sets: Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck

Looking ahead, the set following Fabled will be Whispers in the Well, set to launch in Q4 2025. Key art reveals Mickey, Ariel, and possibly Disney Gargoyles, along with a new type of Glimmer. Further into the future, fans can anticipate the arrival of Darkwing Duck in 2026, answering long-standing calls from the community.

Disney Lorcana World Championship

The competitive scene is set to heat up with the Disney Lorcana World Championship, scheduled for June 28 and 29 at Walt Disney World. This tournament will see players from around the globe vie for the title of the first annual Disney Lorcana TCG World Champion. Those unable to attend can follow the action live on Twitch.TV/DisneyLorcana, with commentary from a talented team including Rebekah (RebekahQuests), Baker (LorcanaVillain), Liam (The Illumiteers), Brandon (Bsquared24), and JD (JDZ Quest). During the event, fans will have the opportunity to obtain a non-foil 'A Whole New World' promo card, with more details to be announced later.
