Donkey Kong is back! Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, a remastered version of the 2010 Wii classic, launches today exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. This 2D side-scrolling platformer delivers a challenging and inventive gameplay experience. What is Donkey Kong Country Returns HD?

This isn't the first re-release for Donkey Kong Country Returns. Following its 2010 Wii debut, it was ported to the 3DS in 2013, adding eight exclusive levels. This HD version includes all original Wii levels plus those eight extra 3DS stages.

The game retains its challenging difficulty, but this release offers an easier mode (borrowed from the 3DS version) featuring extra hearts and helpful boosts. Expect classic platforming action: leaping across gaps, swinging from vines, barrel blasting, banana collecting, and more. Two-player couch co-op is also available upon finding Diddy Kong.
