Drag. Quest Monsters Hits Mobile, PC Sept. 11

TouchArcade Rating: Last year's Switch release of Square Enix's monster-collecting RPG, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, was a delightful surprise. Despite some technical hiccups, its charm and addictive gameplay easily surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated shortly after the Switch launch, similar to Dragon Quest Treasures, a mobile release seemed far off. However, Square Enix has just announced that the previously Switch-exclusive Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ($23.99) will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC, including the Digital Deluxe Edition content. Importantly, the store listings confirm that the real-time online battle mode from the Switch version will be absent in the Steam and mobile releases.

The Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently priced at $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). Having thoroughly enjoyed the Switch version, I'm eager to revisit it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. This swift mobile porting from Square Enix is welcome news, especially considering the typical delays between console and mobile releases in the Dragon Quest series (as seen with Dragon Quest Builders).
