A Decade in the Making
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has been a long and complex process, facing numerous delays spanning nearly a decade. Initially conceived in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus shifting to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further complicating matters, the initial design clashed with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
The project was resurrected in 2018 under the codename "Morrison" and eventually announced in 2022 as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, before settling on its current title.
