In the eagerly awaited cooperative action game Elden Ring Nightreign, fans of From Software's signature poisonous swamps will be disappointed to learn that these iconic areas will not feature in the game. This surprising revelation came from the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, during a recent discussion with journalists.
Although a similar-looking location appeared in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified that it represents a different environment altogether. The absence of poisonous swamps, a staple in From Software's titles, stems from the non-involvement of Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software and a known enthusiast of swamp locales. Miyazaki's influence led to the inclusion of such areas in both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series, but he did not participate in the development of Elden Ring Nightreign.

In other news, there's a glimmer of hope for fans craving more cooperative play options. While Elden Ring Nightreign has been announced with one-player and three-player modes, the developers are currently contemplating the addition of a two-player mode. The initial exclusion of this mode was attributed to challenges related to content balancing. However, From Software is still weighing the possibility, and no definitive decision has been reached yet.
Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PC as well as two generations of consoles, promising a thrilling experience for gamers across multiple platforms.
