Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring special tasks, rewards, and a unique game mode. Players must light and defend a Christmas tree in six different locations.
A major addition is the "Prestige" system, similar to Call of Duty. Reaching level 55, completing quests, and accumulating resources allows players to reset their character, retaining some equipment while earning prestige-exclusive rewards (achievements, cosmetics, and tasks). Two prestige levels are initially available, with eight more planned.
Further significant changes include:
- Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when characters catch cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelters offer relief.
- Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
- Customs Map Rework: Updated textures, objects, and points of interest.
- New Weapons: Seven new weapons, including assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
- Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring special items.
- New Questline: A new quest chain involving a BTR Driver.
- Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.
- Continuous Healing: Implementation of continuous healing mechanics.
- Recoil Balancing: Adjusted recoil and visual improvements.
- Balance Changes and Bug Fixes: Numerous balance adjustments and bug fixes.
A standard wipe accompanies this update, meaning players will have a fresh start and plenty to explore upon server launch.
