Hearthstone's Next Expansion: The Lost City of Un'Goro

Hearthstone makes a triumphant return to the Un'Goro Crater with its upcoming expansion, The Lost City of Un'Goro, launching on July 8. While the region debuted in Hearthstone back in 2017, this new chapter presents a fresh narrative and refined gameplay experience.

What Does The Lost City of Un'Goro Bring to Hearthstone?

This expansion introduces 145 new cards, a brand-new keyword, and the return of popular mechanics. It also features an original story that chronicles a new expedition into the long-concealed city.

The Lost City of Un'Goro expansion follows Loh, a Tortollan explorer, as he spearheads a team into the fabled city. Elise Starseeker acts as his navigator, while Umbra, a former Tortollan leader, serves as their guide. Unbeknownst to Loh, Umbra is pursuing her own secret agenda, which unravels throughout the adventure.

Now for the really exciting part! The Lost City of Un'Goro debuts a new Hearthstone keyword called Kindred. A card with Kindred gains a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your preceding turn. The activation is intentionally designed to trigger based on your play from the previous turn, not the current one.

Quest cards are also making a comeback. These are 1-mana Legendary spells that begin in your opening hand. Every class receives one new Quest. After fulfilling the card's specific conditions, you unlock a formidable reward.

And There's Even More to Explore

The expansion includes seven Story cards that draw inspiration from the original Un'Goro set. These allow you to delve into the past expedition of the Un'Goro Crater, featuring numerous callbacks to original events and characters.

Six new Map cards also join the collection. When you play a Map, you Discover a card from three choices. If you play the selected card immediately that turn, you also receive one of the two remaining options. If you don't, you only keep your initial selection.
