Warhammer Publisher Games Workshop Rewards Staff With $27M Bonus

The boom continues for Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop, which is distributing a £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus to its staff.

The UK-based company from Nottingham, renowned for its Warhammer tabletop games and expansive settings, reported core revenue of £560 million for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025. This marks an increase from £494.7 million in the prior period. Licensing revenue rose to £50 million from £31 million. Core profit reached £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit grew to £45 million from £27 million. This results in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, compared to £203 million previously.

In light of these substantial profits and in recognition of our staff's contribution to these results, Games Workshop is awarding employees £20 million, surpassing last year's £18 million payout. The bonus will be distributed equally to every staff member. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500, this equates to approximately £13,333 (about $18,000) per employee.

Games Workshop's primary business involves selling miniatures that fans assemble and paint for tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, it is increasingly focused on intellectual property, generating significant revenue from hit video games such as last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and animations like the Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode on Amazon. Last year, Games Workshop and Amazon finalized an agreement for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will include films and television series. Space Marine 3 is also currently in development.

What's next for Games Workshop? The company noted that licensing revenue reached a record level this period, though it does not anticipate a repeat in 2025/26, despite it remaining a core focus. Warhammer 40,000 and the Warhammer franchise as a whole are more popular than ever, and based on these results, growth shows no signs of slowing down.
