In a February 13, 2025 IGN interview with lead designer Ed Beach, the possibility of Gandhi's return was addressed. While not confirmed, Beach stated that Gandhi's absence wasn't due to oversight, but rather a necessary decision to make room for new additions.
Beach clarified the omission of established civilizations like Great Britain and India, stating that the sheer number of popular choices required some exclusions to allow for fresh, exciting content. He emphasized that Firaxis is considering the long-term inclusion of these leaders and civilizations.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the anticipation for Gandhi's return in Civ VII is high. However, no concrete timeline has been provided.
