How To Get Paradisan Ladder in Avowed

There are five primary methods to obtain Paradisan Ladder in Avowed: purchasing from Merilyn the merchant in Paradise, finding plants while exploring, receiving it as a reward from side quests, breaking down items infused with it, and downgrading Hylea’s Talon.

Merylin the Merchant

Visiting Merilyn is the fastest and most reliable way to acquire Paradisan Ladder in Avowed. She's located in South Paradise, as shown on the map above. When you first meet her, she'll mention her rivalry with her blacksmith sister nearby. You can then purchase from her inventory, where she offers five units of Paradisan Ladder at 150 coins each.

Additionally, Merilyn sells two items that can be broken down for more Paradisan Ladder: the unique Many-Hued Doublet light armor and the unique Common Grimoire of Elements, each yielding two units. Note that her inventory doesn't replenish once sold out, even after resting at a party camp. However, visiting her remains the best option for a quick upgrade.

Paradisan Ladder can also be found while exploring Avowed’s wild areas and occasionally in city spots like Paradis. Keep an eye on your mini-map for the plant logo, as indicated by the red circle above. Although Paradisan Ladder can be confused with other plant types, collecting any you find during your quests is a great way to build your stockpile at no cost.

Side Quests

Avowed encourages players to engage in side quests, partly due to the need for Paradisan Ladder for upgrades. For instance, the early side quest "Escape Plan," which you can encounter during the campaign, rewards you with crafting materials, including two units of Paradisan Ladder. This additional effort not only provides you with the essential herb but also grants XP and other bonuses.

Breaking Down Items

In Avowed, you can break down items to retrieve core crafting materials like Softwood Branches, Pelts, and Iron Chunks. You can also reclaim Paradisan Ladder by breaking down higher-quality items that have been upgraded with it. For example, if you've upgraded a Common Sword with Paradisan Ladder, you can break it down at your party camp workbench to recover some of it for reuse. Additionally, check merchants' inventories for unique items that mention Paradisan Ladder in their "Break Down" section.

If you've advanced in Avowed’s campaign to Emerald Stair and acquired Hylea’s Talon, you can downgrade it into three units of Paradisan Ladder each. To do this, head to your workbench at the party camp, switch to the "Crafting" tab, and select the "Upgrade Materials" section to downgrade. This method is particularly useful if you're looking to switch to a different weapon type that needs quick upgrading to match your current gear level.
