Harrison Ford Doesn't Care That Indiana Jones 5 Flopped, and Joined Marvel For a 'Good Time'

By LoganFeb 28,2025

Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial underperformance of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," simply stating, "s**t happens." He revealed his decision to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe was driven by a desire for enjoyment.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the Star Wars icon explained his motivation for returning to the Indiana Jones franchise, emphasizing his belief in the potential for a compelling new chapter. Despite the film's negative reception and estimated $100 million loss, Ford expressed satisfaction with his involvement. He articulated his desire to portray an older, less vigorous Indiana Jones, exploring the consequences of his past.

This latest cinematic venture hasn't deterred Ford from embracing another iconic franchise. He's joined the MCU in "Captain America: Brave New World," stepping into the shoes of the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, a role significantly expanded to include the Red Hulk transformation. Ford clarified that his decision predated knowledge of this transformation, driven purely by the prospect of a fun experience. He observed other respected actors enjoying their time in the MCU and decided to join the fun.

"Captain America: Brave New World," slated for a February 14th release, marks one of the shorter MCU films. This installment features Anthony Mackie as Captain America, replacing Chris Evans, and incorporates lesser-known Marvel characters, including a significant payoff from a long-standing plot thread introduced in "The Incredible Hulk" with the arrival of The Leader.
