Harrison Ford: 'Indiana Jones Proves AI Isn't Needed to Capture My Soul'

By CharlotteMay 06,2025

Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind Indiana Jones, has expressed his approval of Troy Baker's portrayal of the legendary character in the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. In a conversation with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford humorously remarked, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, released in December, offers an authentic experience that, while not necessarily canonical, has been warmly received by fans. This contrasts sharply with the lukewarm reception of the latest film in the series, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which hit theaters in 2023. The positive feedback on the game might encourage the franchise's creators to explore more in this direction, potentially moving away from relying on Ford to reprise his role.

Ford, known for his roles in Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and soon in the Marvel universe, joins a chorus of creatives voicing concerns over the use of AI in media. Notable figures like Tim Burton have labeled AI-generated art as "very disturbing," while Nicolas Cage has called it a "dead end." The issue resonates deeply with voice actors as well. Ned Luke, known for his role in Grand Theft Auto 5, criticized a chatbot that mimicked his voice, and Doug Cockle, the voice behind The Witcher, described AI as "inevitable" but "dangerous," echoing Luke's sentiment that such technologies could rob voice actors of their income.
