Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a powerful build hinges on securing a solid weapon. While you begin with basic equipment, exploration unlocks weapons tailored to your preferred playstyle.
Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to acquiring new weapons. Here's your guide:
Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The primary method for obtaining new gear is by exploring Overgrowths. While exploring naturally yields loot, focusing on sword or pistol icons on the map directly leads to Blades (melee weapons) and Rails (ranged weapons) respectively.
Blades offer diverse movesets and abilities, while Rails feature unique functionalities. Both come in varying rarities, with gold representing the highest tier and, consequently, the best stats.
To save any discovered weapon for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. Cached weapons are accessible for future runs by adjusting your loadout before starting.
Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Beyond in-run discoveries, the Cursed Outpost merchants sell new starting equipment. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. Repairing the Rails merchant's shop, requiring specific materials, unlocks their inventory.
Merchants have limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. Check back frequently for new offerings.
Weapon Upgrades

Outpost merchants also offer weapon upgrades, but this functionality requires increased merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, acquired through exploration or cycle resets. Golden Rations are scarce, so use them judiciously.
Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icon) upon death, eventually breaking with repeated failures.
