Jason Momoa Teases Lobo’s Debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: 'We Look Pretty Dead On'

Jason Momoa's portrayal of Lobo in the upcoming DC Universe film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is generating excitement among fans. Scheduled for release in June 2026, this film marks Momoa's transition from the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), where he played Aquaman, to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). Lobo, an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, shares the distinction of being the last survivor of his world, similar to Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big." He hinted at a faithful adaptation of the character's appearance and personality, mentioning, "I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

Momoa also clarified that Lobo's screen time in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be brief, saying, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit." This statement underscores that the film primarily focuses on Supergirl, portrayed by Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, signaling the start of filming. The movie draws heavily from the graphic novel Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, seeking vengeance for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl against the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the second installment in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman, set to release earlier that summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is slated for September 2026, promising an exciting year for DC fans.
