Leaked Gameplay Footage Unveiled for Canceled Transformers Project

By ChloeFeb 08,2025

Leaked gameplay footage of the canceled Transformers: Reactivate has re-emerged online. Originally announced in 2022 by Splash Damage in collaboration with Hasbro, the co-op game promised a unique take on the Transformers universe, pitting Autobots and Decepticons against a new alien threat, "the Legion," to defend Earth.

Despite initial excitement, the project saw limited public exposure beyond occasional leaks and related merchandise. The subsequent cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate left fans disappointed, with Splash Damage shifting focus to other ventures. Potential staff layoffs due to redundancies were also mentioned.

Recently surfaced footage, reportedly from a 2020 build, offers a glimpse into the game's potential. The clip showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed cityscape, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes while engaging the Legion. The gameplay bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, albeit with a different antagonist.

Despite some unfinished textures, the leaked footage demonstrates a polished aesthetic, including environmental destruction. An incomplete cutscene concludes the clip, showing Bumblebee emerging from a portal and communicating with an ally named Devin regarding the Legion's assault.

Numerous other leaks, dating back to 2020, further illustrate the development progress. While Transformers: Reactivate remains unplayed, the leaked material provides a valuable look at the ambitious, albeit ultimately unsuccessful, project.

Summary:

  • Developer: Splash Damage
  • Publisher: Hasbro and Takara Tomy (implied)
  • Genre: Co-op Multiplayer
  • Status: Canceled
