Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has just revealed its newest collaboration with LEGO – a buildable LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.
The announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter), has sparked a flurry of excitement and, predictably, some playful speculation about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many users jokingly interpreted the Game Boy LEGO set as a cryptic reveal of the next console.
While details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor to the Switch would be announced within the current fiscal year (ending March). So, the wait continues!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy hasn't been revealed yet, but Nintendo promises more information soon.
More LEGO Fun from Nintendo!
This isn't Nintendo's first foray into the LEGO world. Previous collaborations have brought beloved characters from iconic franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda to life in brick form.
Remember the impressive 2,500-piece Legend of Zelda: Great Deku Tree set released in May 2024? This stunning recreation of the tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Zelda and the Master Sword, retails for $299.99 USD.
And just two months later, LEGO dropped a unique Super Mario World set featuring Mario riding Yoshi. This isn't your typical playset; it's a clever recreation of the in-game sprite, with a rotating crank that animates Yoshi's leg. This set is available for $129.99 USD.
